Installation Instructions - Bricks

Surface Preparation

  • Before applying decorative stones or bricks, ensure that the wall surface (concrete, plaster, drywall) is clean, stable, rough, absorbent, and free from dust.
  • If the wall is painted, you must remove the paint or wallpaper.
  • Roughen the surface to make it textured and achieve the best possible adhesion for the adhesive.
  • Do not place stones on an unstable substrate (e.g., wood, sheet metal). If the surface is unstable, it is recommended to cover it with Rowmat structural board and then place the selected stone or brick.
  • Before placing the stones, apply a primer or quartz-based primer to reduce absorbency and increase adhesive bonding.
  • For all surfaces, especially those exposed to moisture or those undergoing large expansions and contractions, it is recommended to install a decoupling and waterproofing membrane to avoid capillary cracks in the joints and material. Consult the manufacturer's instructions for installing the membrane.

Installation
Attention! Before starting the installation, open 2 or more boxes and mix stones to create balance between different colors, shapes, thicknesses, and textures.

If the installation includes corners, start with them and proceed with the installation following the guidelines.

  • For placing the stones, we recommend an elastic and reinforced adhesive (at least C2TE class). The adhesive consumption depends on the substrate and type of cladding (stone or brick), and is approximately 5-6 kg per m². Follow the manufacturer's instructions for preparing the adhesive.
  • Apply the adhesive to the primed wall surface with an 8 mm notched trowel and spread it evenly. Then, spread adhesive on the entire back surface of the stone, ensuring no residue remains around the edges. Apply enough adhesive to ensure there is no gap between the stone and the wall.
  • If you’ve chosen stones or bricks that require jointing, ensure a gap of about 8–9 mm between them.
  • For surfaces longer than three meters (3 m), it is recommended to create expansion joints.
  • Place the stone by pressing firmly to ensure perfect adhesion of the stone or brick to the wall surface.
  • If the stone surface gets dirty with adhesive, allow the adhesive to dry (according to the manufacturer's instructions) and remove the excess material with a metal tool. Do not use a wire brush or wet sponge. Make sure to keep your hands clean from adhesive stains to avoid contaminating the stones.
  • Once the stone placement is complete, allow the adhesive to dry and develop its strength for about 24 to 72 hours (depending on external temperatures).

Jointing

  • If the stones or bricks you’ve chosen require jointing, make sure you've left a gap of about 8–9 mm between them. For jointing the stones, choose coarse-grain joint filler in the desired color. Apply the joint filler carefully using a piping bag or joint gun.
  • To enhance the strength of the joint, it is recommended to enrich the joint filler with a strengthening resin.
  • Once the joint begins to dry (2–4 hours), use a trowel or other metal object (8 mm thickness) to scrape the joint and bring it to the desired depth, ensuring it is not level with the stone or brick.
  • Once the surface has dried, you can apply one or two layers of water-repellent treatment.
